CSU-ALS CSU-ALS is a one day training program that teaches the CALS protocol in the Americas and India. It is organized as a one day, seven-hour course that is multi-modal: it has lectures, a course book, e-learning, scenarios, videos and hands-on including a manikin that has been designed to permit practice of resternotomy, internal defibrillation and internal massage. The basic course is known as the CSU-ALS Provider course. The training carries a 2-year certification that is renewed with a live course every 2 years. The core of the protocol is early initiation of effective resuscitation, early organization of trained personnel, and early access to specialists and equipment including sterile chest re-opening for:

Initiation of ECMO
Centers with CSU-ALS certification have been shown, in single center and a recent multicenter study, to be associated with a lower risk-adjusted likelihood of Failure To Rescue (FTR) after cardiac arrest. many of our single centers have demonstrated in addition to decreased FTR, decreased event rates.
